The biggest question mark surrounding the Dallas Cowboys is the status of wide receiver Dez Bryant.
He appears to lack chemistry with Dak Prescott and that cost a whopping $12.5 million by Dallas this season. This could give the Cowboys reason to release Bryant, making him a free agent.
If Dallas were to release Dez, here are teams that will make a run at the former Pro Bowl wide receiver.
San Francisco 49ers
Even after their free agency spending spree, the 49ers still have $47 million in cap space.
The team does have Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin on the roster, but let’s not forget that the team invested a five-year lucrative contract to Jimmy Garoppolo.
If the team wants to get the most out of their young franchise QB, bringing in Bryant can certainly help him.
The Baltimore Ravens have had trouble bringing in weapons for quarterback Joe Flacco.
The team signed Michael Crabtree and John Brown in free agency, however, the team is in need for a red zone/vertical threat. Bryant can be the piece that the Ravens have needed over the years.
The Indianapolis Colts missed out on the big-name free agents at the start of the new league year. The team signed WR Ryan Grant, but they still need help. The Colts have a ton of cap space, amounting to almost $60 million.
Dez could certainly flourish under offensive-minded head coach Frank Reich, who helped Alshon Jeffrey return to his touchdown-scoring ways.
Bryant to the Colts could be a perfect fit.
New England Patriots
You had to see this one coming, right?
The New England Patriots lost a plethora of players this offseason, including Brandin Cooks and Danny Amendola. The team needs a red zone threat, and Bryant could fit the bill.
Let’s not forget head coach Bill Belichick’s work with keeping players in line. While the Patriots don’t have a lot of cap space, they could lure in Bryant on one sole thing: winning.
Imagine Tom Brady throwing to Bryant, Julian Edelman, and Rob Gronkowski. Scary thoughts.
The Carolina Panthers have been missing a top wide receiver since Steve Smith’s departure in 2014. Cam Newton has thrived in his career, but his wide receiving corps have not been the greatest.
Why not bring in Dez Bryant? On paper, Cam to Dez could be a deadly combination in the NFL. Carolina has a running game with Newton and Christian McCaffrey to hep ease some pressure off the passing game.
Bryant will be the prime target in Carolina, which could entice him to sign with the Panthers.
