Javier Mascherano believed that goalkeeper Claudio Bravo stays at Barcelona among the rumors he is set to sign for Manchester City but says he will understand if the 33 years old keeper decides to leave.
Speaking ahead Spanish Super Cup second leg against Sevilla in Wednesday, Mascherano said the his teammates were in the dark over the situation.
“We don’t know anything, we don’t know ifit’s just rumors,” he said in a news conference at the Ciutat Esportiva. “If a player decides to leave it’s because his believe that it’s the best decision for him.
“I hope he stays, Claudio has given us a lot, he’s an important part of our team, but if he goes I will understand because each person looks for the best for themselves, for their families… we are all professionals.”
As Sport has reported, Manchester City are close to make a deal to bring Claudio Bravo to the Etihad Stadium, as Barcelona have agreed a €25 million deal for Chilean goalkeeper, while the Manchester Evening News has said the negotiations are at an advanced stage.
The 33-year-old is expected to fly in to Manchester later this week once a deal is reached between the two clubs. He would then likely be sharing the role with Caballero this season, while Hart would be free to leave.
