The Cleveland Browns cycled through quarterbacks during the career of offensive tackle Joe Thomas. He has played with (in Pro Bowl appearances) and against some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL over the years, however.
The Wisconsin product believes that the Browns now have a player capable of being one of the league’s best.
“What I think is that the Browns have found their quarterback for the next 15 years that fans can get excited about and show up on Sundays thinking that no matter who the opponent is we have a chance to win this because we have a guy in that position that gives us that chance,” Thomas said in a video from 92.3 The Fan’s Daryl Ruiter.

Mayfield was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. He joined the starting rotation following an injury to veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Since becoming the quarterback for the Browns, the team has won two games and a rightful claim for a third. The Texas native completed 63-of-107 passes for 838 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also has eight carries for 31 yards. In roughly 2.5 games, he has been sacked eight times for 62 total yards lost.
The Oklahoma product was named Pepsi’s NFL Rookie of the Week for Week 3.
Thomas announced his retirement in March after 11 seasons with the organization. He was the No. 3 overall selection in the 2007 NFL Draft. When it comes time for Pro Football Hall of Fame inductions, Thomas should enter on the first attempt.
